While providing service to persons with disabilities, it is helpful to have an overview of existing regulations that relate to disability rights and equality. Developing an awareness and understanding of disability laws and anti-discrimination legislation creates an important foundation for accessible customer service excellence. This module provides participants with knowledge of the existing Canadian legal framework that supports disability rights as well as international legislation. This module will cover the timeline of the history of disability rights, and go into further detail on the Canadian Rights and Freedoms, Accessible Canada Act, and the Duty to Accommodate.
