Module 9: Employment and Disability

OBJECTIVE

This module will explain why employing people with disabilities is highly beneficial, and explain how it can result in business growth and retention of quality employees. This module will describe disability disclosure, and the various stages of the employment process when this information may be revealed to an employer. Tips will be provided on how to receive, acknowledge, and respond to this information, and how to ensure that employees feel supported. The duty to accommodate as well as different types of workplace accommodations will be discussed, and the role of the employer will be outlined. Workplace discrimination will be defined, with strategies of how to promote a discrimination and harassment free environment.
