Module 3: Assistance & Support

OBJECTIVE

For many people with disabilities, assistance and support helps promote independence and participation in society. Without adequate assistance and support, many would not be able to access the goods and services that they need and deserve. This module will review in detail the various types of supports used by people with disabilities, including mobility aids, assistive technology, different forms of human support, service animals, and emotional support animals. This module also includes current legislation as it relates to devices and animals, while explaining proper etiquette and providing tips to facilitate a positive customer experience. Having greater knowledge of the different equipment and tools used by your customers will help you better understand their needs and challenges, resulting in positive customer interactions.
